AM has real environmental advantages — but only in the right applications, and only if you measure them properly.
Material efficiency
AM only uses the material the part needs. In subtractive work, up to 90% of a billet can end up as chips on the floor.
Supply chain
Print on demand, near the customer. Shorter logistics chains, lower transport emissions, less warehousing.
Lighter parts in service
A lighter part that flies or drives uses less fuel for the rest of its life. Often the biggest win is here, not in the factory.
Powder reuse
Unsintered powder goes back in the hopper. Parts can be designed for repair and remanufacture instead of replacement.
